Khirsapat Mango

Its rind is thin enough to peel with a fingernail, and it's prized for having almost no fiber at all — a texture smooth enough that some eat it with a spoon, straight from the skin.

Khirsapat is a small, intensely sweet, fiberless mango grown around Chapainawabganj, sold sliced with chaat masala or chili salt from carts that appear across Rajshahi division every summer. Its short season turns local markets into mango fairs for a few intense weeks each year.

Why it's made this way: Chapainawabganj's orchards produce Khirsapat in such volume and quality that Bangladesh granted it geographical indication status in 2019 — the country's third such product after hilsa and jamdani — formally recognizing the mango as belonging to this stretch of Rajshahi division.
