It's brewed on the very same Bumthang farmstead as the valley's Swiss cheese — Bhutan's first microbrewery and its only alpine-style cheesemaker, founded by the same Swiss settler.
This cloudy, unfiltered wheat beer is brewed and bottled in Bumthang using Bavarian-style techniques, alongside the farm's apple cider and apple brandy. It's poured cold at guesthouses and restaurants across the valley, often the only local draught beer on the menu.
Why it's made this way: Bumthang's Swiss-founded farm built Bhutan's first microbrewery around imported Alpine brewing know-how, giving the valley a beer style found nowhere else in the country and turning a homestead dairy operation into a stop on the Bumthang itinerary.
