Dulse from Dark Harbour on Grand Manan Island is considered so distinctive that it's sold air-dried, unwashed and unprocessed, straight off the rocks it was hand-picked from.
This reddish-purple seaweed is hand-harvested from coastal rocks, sun- or air-dried, and sold in bags as a chewy, salty snack eaten straight or fried briefly in a pan. Harbor-town shops around the Bay of Fundy sell it by the bag.
