Pylsur (Icelandic Hot Dog)

The order isn't 'with everything' — it's 'eina með öllu,' and it gets you raw onion, crispy fried onion, ketchup, sweet brown mustard, and remoulade all on one sausage.

A short, snappy sausage blending lamb, beef, and pork is steamed or grilled and tucked into a soft bun, then piled with a specific stack of toppings — crispy fried onions, raw onion, ketchup, pylsusinnep (a sweet brown mustard), and remoulade. Harborside stands in Reykjavik sell them by the thousands, day and night.

Why it's made this way: Lamb has always outnumbered cattle on Iceland's harsh volcanic terrain, so the local hot dog recipe folds lamb in alongside beef and pork — giving it a slightly gamier, distinct flavor no import version quite matches.
