Since the old Beamish brewery closed in 2009, Beamish has been brewed at Cork's Lady's Well brewery — the historic home of its long-time rival, Murphy's.

Beamish is a dry stout brewed in Cork since 1792, known for a maltier, more chocolate-forward flavor than its Dublin counterpart. Ordering 'a pint' in a Cork pub doesn't automatically mean Guinness the way it might elsewhere in Ireland.

Why it's made this way: Cork's brewing rivalry between Beamish and Murphy's shaped a distinct local stout culture, giving the city a strong sense of independence from Dublin's Guinness dominance.
