Thoddoo Curry · Smoked Tuna

Valhomas Riha

Photo coming soon

The tuna goes into the pot already smoked by traditional method (valhomas), so the curry carries a smoky depth before a single spice from the pan even joins it.

Tuna smoked by a traditional method is simmered in a curry built on Thoddoo's Fundi Havaadhu paste, producing a deep, smoky curry served with rice. It's one of the everyday main dishes built around the island's own spice blend.

Why it's made this way: Smoking the tuna first is a preservation method suited to a farming island where fishing is secondary to agriculture, letting cooks keep the catch usable for curry days after it was landed.
