Two stories explain the name: customers said it 'tasted like glory', or the inventor named it after her granddaughter Gloria.

Soft balls of burnt goat and cow milk candy with pecans, twisted into red cellophane and sold at candy shops, highway stands, bus terminals and airports across the state.

Why it's made this way: They were invented in the town of Linares in the 1930s by confectioner Natalia Medina Núñez and are now the best-known sweet of Nuevo León.
