It's reportedly found nowhere else in Myanmar — travelers are told this small, sweet-and-sour fruit grows only in and around Dawei.
Zin thi is a small tropical fruit, sweet with a light sourness, sold fresh by the bagful from roadside fruit stands around Dawei. It's typically eaten out of hand as a snack rather than cooked into anything else.
Why it's made this way: Its extremely localized growing range has made zin thi a point of pride and a fixture of Dawei's fruit stalls, in a region already known nationally for its produce.
