It's poured in Peshawar's centuries-old Qissa Khwani Bazaar — literally the 'Bazaar of Storytellers' — where traveling merchants once swapped tales over exactly this cup.
Green tea leaves are simmered with jasmine and green cardamom pods, sometimes with a touch of sugar, then strained into small cups without milk. Peshawar's chaikhanas (tea houses), especially around Qissa Khwani Bazaar, keep it brewing all day for a steady stream of customers.
Why it's made this way: Green tea reached the region along old trade routes through Kashmir and Central Asia, and Peshawar developed its own jasmine-and-cardamom variation, served in tea houses that have anchored the city's bazaars for generations.
