Brazilian guaraná brands sit on shelves right alongside Paraguayan sodas throughout Pedro Juan Caballero, an everyday byproduct of the constant foot traffic across the border avenue with Ponta Porã.
A sweet, fruity carbonated soda made from guaraná berries is sold ice-cold at kiosks and grills throughout Pedro Juan Caballero. It's a popular drink alongside grilled snacks bought street-side.
Why it's made this way: Amambay's open border with Brazil means Brazilian guaraná brands are as common here as Paraguay's own guaraná sodas, which are popular across the whole country.
