Every bottle contains a single blade of grass hand-picked from the primeval Białowieża Forest — the last home of Europe's wild bison.
Żubrówka is a rye vodka infused with bison grass gathered in the Białowieża Forest of Podlaskie, giving it a distinct vanilla-and-almond aroma. Commercial production began in 1928 at the Polmos Białystok distillery, and it's traditionally mixed with apple juice as a 'tatanka.'
Why it's made this way: The vodka's flavor and even its name pay tribute to the European bison (żubr) that still roam this one forest, tying the drink permanently to Podlaskie.
