A meaningful share of the lobster grilled on Bosaso's waterfront is, in frozen form, destined for premium sashimi markets in Asia.
Bosaso's position on the Gulf of Aden makes it one of Somalia's premier spots for lobster, split and grilled over charcoal, then served simply with lime or a light garlic sauce.
Why it's made this way: Puntland's coastline supports an estimated 200-300 tons of lobster tail exports a year, and Bosaso's port has grown into a hub for seafood companies shipping spiny rock lobster abroad — while the freshest catch stays behind for the grill.
