The name means 'pregnant bun', because the chorizo sits whole inside the dough like a baby.
A soft wheat roll baked around a piece of Asturian chorizo, sometimes with pancetta, eaten by hand at outdoor festivals and sold year-round in Asturian bakeries.
Why it's made this way: It is the standard food of Asturian romerías, above all Oviedo's Martes de Campo and the Fiesta del Bollu in Arriondas, traditionally washed down with cider.
