The lemon leaf inside is only there for aroma and shape; you pull it out and eat the batter.
Lemon-tree leaves dipped in a sweet egg-and-flour batter, fried and dusted with sugar and cinnamon, sold at the huerta barracas during Murcia's Spring Festival and September Fair.
Why it's made this way: They come from the lemon groves of the Huerta de Murcia along the Segura and are a staple of the barracas set up during the city's fiestas.
