Camarão Alho e Óleo (Fish-Market Garlic Shrimp)

🦐
Photo coming soon

At Fortaleza's Mercado dos Peixes you buy your shrimp by the kilo from a fishermen's stall, then pay one of the frying boxes a small fee to cook it for you on the spot.

Fresh shrimp picked at the market stalls on Mucuripe beach and fried in garlic and oil at the market's frying boxes, eaten by the portion at the market's plastic tables with a view of the waterfront, especially in the late afternoon.

Why it's made this way: The market on Avenida Beira Mar has sold the catch of Fortaleza's artisanal fishermen for more than 50 years; its covered structure with 45 sales boxes and 4 frying boxes opened in March 2016.
