Licor de Jabuticaba

🍇
Photo coming soon

Jabuticaba fruit doesn't grow on branches like a normal berry — it sprouts directly out of the tree's trunk, a sight so unusual that first-time visitors often assume the tree is diseased.

A dark, sweet-tart liqueur steeped from jabuticaba berries and sugarcane spirit, sold in unlabeled bottles at roadside stands and small-town markets around Minas Gerais, especially near Sabará. Vendors often let passersby taste a shot before buying.

Why it's made this way: Jabuticaba trees grow abundantly across Minas Gerais' backyards and roadsides, and home distillers turned the short-lived fresh fruit into a shelf-stable liqueur unique to the region.
