Bingfeng, or 'Ice Peak,' is a tangy orange soda that's been fizzing out of Xi'an factories since the early 1950s, served in stubby glass bottles at noodle shops and street stalls citywide. It's less sweet and more citrus-forward than most Chinese sodas, cutting through the region's heavy, spiced street food.
Why it's made this way: Decades before craft soda was a trend, Bingfeng became the default drink of Shaanxi's street food culture simply by refusing to disappear.
