It's earned the online nickname 'one bottle and you're down for the count' for hitting harder than its modest ABV suggests.
Wusu is a crisp, malty lager brewed since 1986 in Wusu City on the northern slopes of the Tianshan Mountains, and it's the drink of choice at every skewer stand and night market from Urumqi to Kashgar. It's usually served in tall green bottles alongside grilled lamb skewers and hand-pulled noodles.
Why it's made this way: Xinjiang's hop-friendly climate made it a natural home for beer brewing, and Wusu has become the region's most recognizable export beyond food.
