The flatbread sheets (mlinci) are baked hard first, then brought back to life by soaking in the turkey's own roasting juices.
Roast turkey is served over mlinci — thin baked dough sheets softened with hot water or pan drippings until tender. It's a holiday classic that Zagreb's famous Advent Christmas market sells in warm portions from wooden stalls through December.
Why it's made this way: Zagreb's Advent market has been voted one of Europe's best Christmas markets by European Best Destinations, and turkey with mlinci is the market's defining hot dish, tying a northern Croatian holiday tradition to the city's biggest annual street-food event.
