Æblemost & Cider from Fyn

Fyn has been nicknamed Denmark's 'Garden' for so long that farmers there still use the name today — the island's mild sea climate and rich soil make it one of the only parts of Denmark that reliably grows serious quantities of orchard fruit.

Fyn's æblemost (apple juice) and cider are pressed from apples grown across the island's small orchards, ranging from unfiltered, cloudy juice to dry, wild-fermented ciders from small producers such as Ebberup's Drudgaarden. Flavor varies by orchard, but expect a tart, distinctly Danish apple character.

Why it's made this way: Fyn's fertile soil and orchard-friendly climate earned it the nickname 'the Garden of Denmark,' and cider-making there has grown from a farmhouse sideline into a defining regional craft, organized today under networks like Smagen af Fyn (Taste of Funen).
