Åland is an autonomous, Swedish-speaking region of Finland, so the pancake keeps its Swedish name even on menus in Finnish-speaking parts of the country.
Semolina or rice porridge is mixed with eggs and cardamom and baked into a thick, golden pancake, then served warm with prune jam and whipped cream. Nearly every café on Åland keeps it on the menu.
