Finnish kids get their own alcohol-free glögi, spiked with nothing stronger than raisins and almonds.

Glögi is Finland's answer to mulled wine — red wine or juice gently warmed with cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and dried orange peel, then ladled steaming from a pot at Christmas market stalls into small cups. Vendors drop in raisins and blanched almonds, which sink to the bottom and get scooped out with a spoon once the drink is gone.

Why it's made this way: The tradition traveled north from German Glühwein, but Finland made it its own with a strong cardamom kick and a kid-friendly alcohol-free version served alongside the boozy one at every winter market stall.
