Olvi is the only one of Finland's big breweries still in Finnish hands; its main rivals Sinebrychoff and Hartwall are owned by Carlsberg and Royal Unibrew.
Olvi produces a full range of Finnish lagers and other beers from its original hometown brewery, known for approachable, easy-drinking pilsners alongside seasonal and specialty releases. It's a workhorse, everyday Finnish beer rather than a niche craft product.
Why it's made this way: Olvi has been brewed in Iisalmi, in Pohjois-Savo, since 1878, and the company, now a major international group, has kept its headquarters and brewing heritage rooted in the same North Savo town for nearly 150 years.
