Peanut is the classic torito flavor even though it isn't a fruit at all; mango, guanábana and coconut are the other standard choices.

Fresh fruit such as mango, guanábana or coconut, or ground peanut, is blended with sweetened condensed milk and aguardiente (sugarcane liquor) into a thick, chilled cocktail. Street carts and bars around the port of Veracruz and Boca del Río sell it in plastic cups.

Why it's made this way: Toritos are closely tied to the port of Veracruz and neighboring Boca del Río, where the state's sugarcane aguardiente and tropical fruit made an easy base for a sweet, strong drink.
