It's named after the tiny town where it was born — Paeroa's natural mineral spring water, mixed with lemon, is bottled under a slogan that jokes it's only 'world famous in New Zealand.'
L&P (Lemon & Paeroa) is a lemon-flavored soft drink originally made by carbonating mineral water from a spring in Paeroa, New Zealand, with lemon juice. It's sold in dairies and takeaway shops nationwide, and Paeroa itself has a giant L&P bottle monument as a roadside landmark.
Why it's made this way: Dating back to 1907 and carrying its cheeky 'World Famous in New Zealand' slogan since the 1990s, L&P has become a genuine piece of Kiwi identity.
