Despite the name, it hasn't been made in Paeroa for decades; production moved away from the town in the 1980s and the brand now belongs to Coca-Cola.
L&P (Lemon & Paeroa) is a lemon-flavored soft drink originally made by carbonating mineral water from a spring in Paeroa, New Zealand, with lemon juice. It's sold in dairies and takeaway shops nationwide, and Paeroa itself has a giant L&P bottle monument as a roadside landmark.
Why it's made this way: Dating back to 1907 and carrying its cheeky 'World Famous in New Zealand' slogan since the 1990s, L&P has become a genuine piece of Kiwi identity.
