It started in a derelict petrol station its founders converted in Aro Valley — the brewery has since released well over 600 different beers, rarely repeating the same recipe twice.
Garage Project brews small, constantly rotating batches of beer — from straightforward pale ales to wild, ingredient-driven one-offs — poured fresh at its Aro Valley taproom and sold in bottle shops and bars across the city. Wellingtonians treat checking the current tap list as a routine part of a night out.
Why it's made this way: Founded in 2011 in a converted service station, Garage Project became the flagship of Wellington's craft beer scene, a city whose bars and breweries are dense enough to support a permanent 'beer trail' for visitors.
