Hansa's name is a direct nod to Bergen's centuries as a Hanseatic League trading port, brewed in the very city that made the name famous.
Hansa Bryggeri has brewed in Bergen since 1891, and its beers remain closely tied to the city's identity along the fjord-side wharf. The brand still produces Bayer, its original dark Bavarian-style lager, alongside modern pilsners.
Why it's made this way: Bergen's rainy port-city character and old trading history are baked right into the name and brand of its hometown beer.
