In 1478 the Mazovian duke Bolesław V granted Warka the privilege of supplying beer to his ducal court and selling it from the cellar of Warsaw's town hall.
Warka is a crisp, golden Polish lager brewed in the small town of Warka on the Pilica River, south of Warsaw. It's an everyday session beer, light and clean, poured in Warsaw bars and corner shops alike.
Why it's made this way: Warka was already a major brewing town in the Middle Ages: in the 16th century it had around 30 brewers, nearly as many as far larger Warsaw, and its beer was sent to feast tables across Poland.
