Warka's brewing rights date to 1478, when the Mazovian prince granted the town a monopoly on supplying beer to his own ducal court — centuries before Poland's better-known brands existed.
Warka is a crisp, golden Polish lager brewed in the small town of Warka on the Pilica River, south of Warsaw. It's an everyday session beer, light and clean, poured in Warsaw bars and corner shops alike.
Why it's made this way: Mazowieckie's ducal court once ran on Warka's beer by royal privilege, and the town's malt-and-hops tradition has supplied the greater Warsaw region for over five centuries, making it the area's most enduring brewing name.
