Tyskie is one of Poland's best-selling beers, and for most of the time since 1629 its brewery belonged to German princely families, the Promnitz, Anhalt and Hochberg lines of the Pless estate.
Tyskie lager comes from the Tychy brewery in Śląskie (Silesia), one of Poland's oldest breweries, first documented in 1629. The historic brewery complex has its own beer museum and runs visitor tours.
Why it's made this way: Silesia has a long brewing culture shaped by its German-Polish history, and the princely brewery at Tychy is its best-known name.
