Grapevines have grown on this Black Sea coastline for around 6,000 years, making it one of the oldest continuously cultivated wine spots in Europe.
Murfatlar's vineyards sit on limestone hills along the Black Sea in Dobrogea, benefiting from roughly 300 days of sunshine a year and sea-moderated temperatures. The region is known for both indigenous grapes like Fetească Neagră and international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon.
Why it's made this way: Dobrogea's Black Sea climate is unlike anywhere else in Romania, giving its wines a distinct sun-soaked character tied to the coast.
