At its peak in the 1970s, this Belgrade brewery poured roughly one in every four beers drunk across the whole of Yugoslavia — a single city brand supplying an entire federation.
BIP is a pale lager brewed in Belgrade since the brewery's roots were laid down in 1839, a straightforward, easy-drinking beer that became the everyday choice in the capital's kafanas for generations. It's light-bodied with a clean, mildly bitter finish.
Why it's made this way: Belgrade's own brewery grew into a genuine symbol of the capital through the Yugoslav era, giving the city a beer identity distinct from Vojvodina's brands or the rakija culture found across the rest of Serbia.
