During Vasaloppet — the world's oldest and largest cross-country ski race, held in Dalarna since 1922 — roughly 50,000 liters of hot blueberry soup are ladled out to exhausted skiers along the 90-kilometer course.
Blåbärssoppa is a warm, lightly sweetened soup-drink made by simmering dried or fresh wild blueberries, traditionally sipped from a cup to warm up and refuel during cold winter activities. It has a tart-sweet flavor and a thin, syrupy texture.
