Every single bottle of Absolut sold anywhere in the world is distilled in one small Skåne town, Åhus, from wheat grown by local farmers.

Absolut Vodka has been made in and around Åhus since the early 1900s, using winter wheat sourced from roughly 400 farms across the surrounding Skåne countryside. The continuous-distillation process was pioneered here by founder Lars Olsson Smith in the 19th century.

Why it's made this way: Skåne's flat, fertile farmland made it Sweden's grain basket, and Åhus grew into a one-town vodka industry that now ships hundreds of millions of bottles worldwide every year.
