Pommac was invented in 1919 as a non-alcoholic festive drink; its recipe blends more than 25 fruit and berry flavours, and it is still aged in oak barrels for three months before bottling.
Pommac is a fruity, oak-aged carbonated soft drink with a deep amber color and a complex, slightly tart-sweet flavor unlike typical sodas. It's a staple at Swedish Christmas and Midsummer tables, often poured in place of alcoholic bubbly.
Why it's made this way: The drink was created in Stockholm in 1919 by Anders Lindahl at his Fructus company, and its name, blending the Champagne house Pommery with Cognac, reflects its origins as a festive stand-in for imported Champagne.
