Bundaberg Rum

It's distilled from the leftover molasses of Queensland's sugar cane industry — a byproduct once considered a costly waste disposal problem before local sugar millers decided to distil it instead, founding the company in 1888.
Bundaberg Rum is a dark, full-bodied rum distilled from Queensland sugar cane molasses and aged in oak vats, most often served simply over ice or mixed with cola. Its polar-bear mascot and stout brown bottle make it one of the most recognised spirits in the country.
Why it's made this way: It was founded in 1888 by a group of Bundaberg sugar millers looking for a use for surplus molasses, turning a cane-industry disposal problem into a spirit that's now tied to Queensland's identity as tightly as the cane fields around Bundaberg itself.
