Launched in 1977, it has stayed so overwhelmingly a South Australian phenomenon that locals treat it as a point of state pride, with the brand still leaning hard into that identity in its own marketing decades later.
A thick, well-chilled flavoured milk brewed with coffee, Farmers Union Iced Coffee is sold from every servo, milk bar and corner store in Adelaide. Locals drink it cold straight from the carton or bottle, often before it's even reached the fridge.
Why it's made this way: Launched in 1977 by the Farmers Union dairy co-operative, the drink built a loyal South Australian following strong enough that it remains one of the state's best-known homegrown brands.
