It is widely reported to outsell Coca-Cola in South Australia, one of very few places in the world where a local drink beats Coke.

A thick, well-chilled flavoured milk made with coffee, Farmers Union Iced Coffee is sold from every servo, milk bar and corner store in Adelaide. Locals drink it cold straight from the carton, often with a pie or pasty.

Why it's made this way: Launched in 1977 by the Farmers Union dairy co-operative, the drink built a loyal South Australian following strong enough that it remains one of the state's best-known homegrown brands.
