Austria's favorite street sausage is named after Bosnia — even though it was invented by a Bulgarian grill cook in Salzburg.

A grilled bratwurst-style sausage tucked into a toasted white roll with onions, parsley, mustard, and a dusting of curry powder; many stands also add ketchup. Sold from walk-up grill stands.

Why it's made this way: It was created in 1949 by Zanko Todoroff, a Bulgarian who ran the Balkan Grill in Salzburg's Getreidegasse, which still sells it; the name, the local word for Bosnia, nods to its Balkan-style seasoning.
