The brewery dates to 1492 — the same year Columbus reached the Americas — and it's still family-owned today, making it Austria's largest private brewery.
Stiegl is a crisp, golden Austrian lager, with the classic Stiegl-Märzen leading the range: malty, smooth, and built for long sessions in a beer garden. It's poured everywhere from Salzburg's old town taverns to the Stiegl-Brauwelt visitor brewery itself.
Why it's made this way: Brewed in Salzburg's Maxglan district since the 15th century, Stiegl is woven into the city's identity as thoroughly as its baroque skyline and Mozart's birthplace.
