Malvazija Istarska

This single white grape now covers most of Istria's vineyards, making it the peninsula's default glass of wine at almost every table.

Malvazija Istarska is a crisp, aromatic white wine grown across the Istrian peninsula, ranging from light and fresh to amber, skin-contact styles aged in oak. It's the wine most closely paired with Istrian truffle dishes and seafood.

Why it's made this way: Istria's Mediterranean coastal climate and red soil (terra rossa) gave this one grape variety an outsized hold on the region's wine identity.
