Czech pretzels are often sprinkled with caraway seed as well as salt, the same spice Czechs add to rye bread and roast pork.
A soft, chewy pretzel dusted with coarse salt or sometimes cinnamon-sugar, warmed on portable grills by street vendors around Prague's historic squares and tourist routes.
Why it's made this way: It reflects the wider Central European pretzel tradition shared with Bavaria and Austria, and in Prague it's become the easiest walk-and-eat snack for the crowds moving between the castle and the old town.
