It received a Geographical Indication tag in December 2018.
A flaky, many-layered fried pastry of wheat dough and ghee, soaked in sugar syrup and sold from the sweet shops of Silao.
Why it's made this way: It comes from Silao in Nalanda district, between Rajgir and Nalanda, and a folk tale says the Buddha was offered khaja as he passed through.
