Odia bara is flatter and different from the southern vada, and here it is always eaten with a ladle of ghuguni.

Fried urad-dal bara topped with spicy dried-pea ghuguni, onion and lemon, sold at roadside stalls for breakfast and again as an evening snack, notably in Cuttack.

Why it's made this way: The pairing is a standard Odia snack, found at stalls across the state.
