La Trappe is the only Dutch beer allowed to carry the official 'Authentic Trappist Product' label, brewed inside the abbey walls by an order of monks who fled France in the 1880s.

La Trappe covers a range of rich, bottle-conditioned Belgian-style ales, from the amber Dubbel to the fruity, spicy Quadrupel. It's brewed and bottled inside Koningshoeven Abbey, where visitors can still taste it in the on-site tasting room.

Why it's made this way: Brewed at Koningshoeven Abbey in Berkel-Enschot, Noord-Brabant, since 1884, it's one of the handful of genuine Trappist breweries left in the world and the only one in the Netherlands.
