It was the first legally distilled Welsh whisky in over a century, produced on a single, unusual copper still whose design came from an amateur enthusiast rather than a professional distiller.
Penderyn is a smooth, honeyed single malt whisky, often finished in Madeira casks for a fruity sweetness distinct from Scotch. It revived a Welsh whisky-making tradition that had lain dormant since the 19th century.
Why it's made this way: Distilled in the village of Penderyn on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, it's the drink that put Wales back on the whisky map after more than 100 years without a working distillery.
