Yorkshire Tea's founder built his business around a genuinely local idea: he believed the region's water was different enough that Yorkshire drinkers needed their own blend, not London's.
Yorkshire Tea is a strong, malty black tea blend created by Harrogate-based Taylors of Harrogate, launched in 1977 as 'a Yorkshire blend for Yorkshire people.' It's brewed dark and drunk with milk, several times a day, in homes across the region.
Why it's made this way: Born from a family tea merchant founded in Harrogate in 1886, the brand grew into Britain's best-selling tea by 2019 while still trading heavily on its Yorkshire identity.
