Faygo was created in 1907 by two Russian-immigrant cake decorators in Detroit, who used their icing-flavoring skills to make soda pop instead.
Redpop is a bright red, strawberry-flavored soft drink sold in glass and plastic bottles from Detroit corner stores and coney island counters. It's a fixture in coolers alongside coney dogs and Michigan barbecue stands.
Why it's made this way: Faygo has been bottled in Detroit since 1907 and remains proudly associated with the city's working-class corner-store culture.
