Nyimo actually contains more amino acids than ordinary peanuts, despite being the less famous of Zimbabwe's two main groundnut crops.

Nyimo, or bambara groundnuts, are boiled in their shells until tender and eaten by hand as a snack, or ground into a thick dip. They're sold boiled or roasted by vendors at rural markets throughout the Masvingo region and beyond.

Why it's made this way: Nyimo thrives in poor, dry soils where other crops struggle, making it a resilient staple long favoured by Karanga and other Shona farming communities across drought-prone Masvingo.
