Chipinge Macadamia Nuts

Macadamia trees need years to mature, but a well-tended tree in Chipinge's climate can keep producing nuts for decades, making orchards multi-generational family assets.
Macadamia trees thrive in the misty, well-drained hills around Chipinge and Chimanimani in Zimbabwe's Eastern Highlands. Roasted, lightly salted macadamia nuts are sold by small growers and roadside vendors throughout the region as a rich, buttery snack.
Why it's made this way: Manicaland's macadamia plantations, a legacy of the area's colonial-era fruit and nut farms, are increasingly run by local growers supplying both domestic snack stalls and export markets.
