Honde Valley Banana

More than 4,000 households in Honde Valley alone depend on banana growing for over a third of their income.
The fertile, high-rainfall Honde Valley below the Nyanga mountains is one of Zimbabwe's main banana-growing areas, alongside nearby Chimanimani and Chipinge. Bunches are sold from roadside baskets and stalls all along the Mutare–Nyanga road.
Why it's made this way: Banana growing is a genuine economic backbone for Honde Valley communities, not just a roadside treat, tying the fruit closely to the identity of Manicaland's eastern escarpment.
